Dodger Stadium is the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers and one of the most beautiful ballparks in baseball. It opened in 1962 in Chavez Ravine, on a hill above downtown, and with about 56,000 seats it is the largest ballpark in Major League Baseball. The views of palm trees, the San Gabriel Mountains and the downtown skyline at sunset are part of the experience.
This guide covers tickets, parking and the free Dodger Stadium Express, stadium tours, food, the bag policy and tips for your first game.

Tickets
Dodgers tickets are among the most expensive in baseball, especially for weekend games and big rivalries. Upper-deck seats for weekday games against smaller-market teams can still be found for about $30 to $40, while premium seats run to hundreds of dollars.
Ticket tips
- Weekday games are the best value.
- Top deck and reserve level seats have the best views of the skyline and mountains.
- Buy from the Dodgers or MLB’s official resale to avoid fake tickets.
- Promotional nights, including bobblehead giveaways and fireworks, sell out fast.
Getting there and parking
Getting in and out is the main challenge at Dodger Stadium. Traffic backs up on Stadium Way and Sunset Boulevard before and after games.
- Parking: about $35 when you buy in advance online, about $50 at the gate. Lots open well before first pitch, and leaving after a big game can take 30 to 60 minutes.
- Dodger Stadium Express: a free shuttle bus for ticket holders from Union Station, running from about 90 minutes before first pitch until about 45 minutes after the game ends. It uses bus lanes on Sunset Boulevard, so it is often faster than driving. A South Bay route serves select games.
- Metro: take the A, B or D Line to Union Station and transfer to the Express. See our LA Metro guide.
- Rideshare: use the designated pickup zones; expect long waits after games.
Inside the stadium

Dodger Stadium has kept its mid-century style while adding modern features:
- The outfield pavilions have bars, food and the Hall of Retired Numbers.
- The center field plaza includes statues of Jackie Robinson and Sandy Koufax and a gathering area open before the game.
- The views: the parking lots and upper levels look over palm trees, Elysian Park and downtown.
- The stadium is landscaped with hundreds of trees and plants.
Food: the Dodger Dog and more
The Dodger Dog, a long grilled hot dog, is a must at your first game. You will also find tacos, nachos in helmets, garlic fries, local craft beer and rotating specialty items around the concourses. Concessions are cashless.
You can bring some food into the stadium in a clear bag, plus a sealed water bottle; check the current rules before you go.
Bag policy and rules
- Clear bag policy: bags must be clear and within the size limit, or small clutch-sized bags.
- No outside alcohol, cans or glass.
- Gates open about 90 minutes before first pitch.
- Night games get cool; bring a layer.
Stadium tours
Tours run on many non-game days and give you a look behind the scenes, often including the dugout, the field level, the press box and the Dodger Stadium history displays. The standard tour lasts about 75 minutes and costs about $42, with longer clubhouse experiences on select dates. Tours do not run during day games.
Game times and the season
The regular season runs from late March or early April through late September, with playoffs in October. Weeknight games usually start around 7:10 p.m. and weekend afternoon games around 1:10 p.m. Fireworks follow many Friday night games.
